From this October, we are inviting Cambodian and international artists, working across all disciplines, to immerse themselves in our living marine world and fragile coastal ecosystems, and translate their experiences into visual and interactive works that move, connect and inspire new ways of seeing the ocean.

Whether you’re a painter, poet, sculptor, musician, writer, filmmaker or photographer, you are invited to spend time in and on the waters around Song Saa, home to Cambodia’s first marine protected area.

You’ll be invited behind the scenes with the Song Saa Foundation — spending time with marine biologists, conservation teams and local knowledge holders, and exploring the reefs, mangroves, coastlines and communities that shape this place

The residency is designed to leave space for curiosity: time to observe, exchange ideas, follow unexpected threads and make work in response to what you discover.

Each residency brings two artists together for two weeks — one Cambodian, one international — ideally working in different mediums. You’ll share the experience, but follow your own practice and creative response.

Along the way, we’ll work with you to document and share the residency — capturing the ideas, encounters and work that emerge through our digital channels and wider Song Saa community.

Each artist will be invited to contribute one work to the Song Saa Collection — a growing archive of works inspired by place. The Collection will live permanently in our online gallery, with selected works exhibited and auctioned at our annual fundraising event in support of the Song Saa Foundation. Everything else you create here goes home with you.
