THE ROLE

The Assistant Security Manager supports the Security Manager in keeping guests, employees, property, staff living areas, transport, and the marine environment safe and secure. The role helps lead daily security operations with care, respect, and good judgement, supervises the security team, follows up on incidents and safety concerns, and helps ensure smooth operations when the Security Manager is not available.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support the Security Manager and Management in maintaining a safe, secure, efficient, and respectful resort operation.
  • Assist with guest and employee safety programs, emergency preparedness, fire safety, incident response, and emergency drills with the Chief Engineer.
  • Supervise daily security duties, post assignments, patrols, shift handovers, radio checks, and team attendance.
  • Conduct regular safety and security checks across guest areas, staff facilities, perimeter areas, and marine protection zones.
  • Check that radios, CCTV, alarms, fire equipment, first-response equipment, and security tools are ready for use and report any defects immediately.
  • Monitor the entry and exit of employees, contractors, suppliers, and visitors and prevent unauthorised access.
  • Identify and report fire, electrical, equipment, environmental, and other safety hazards and follow up with the responsible department.
  • Maintain complete and accurate daily records, logs, checklists, incident reports, and security handover notes.
  • Apply resort procedures for security, loss prevention, key control, access control, and protection of resort property.
  • Monitor the performance and conduct of in-house and outsourced security employees and ensure guests and employees are treated with courtesy and respect.
  • Closely monitor movement of people and property at entry and exit points and report suspected theft, loss, damage, or unusual activity.
  • Support the Security Manager in identifying security equipment needs, arranging operator training, and following up required maintenance.
  • Recommend practical improvements to security and personal safety procedures based on daily observations and incidents.
  • Carry out daily round checks, supervise security employees entering guest areas, and act as the duty security lead when assigned or when the Security Manager is absent.
  • Work with the Staff Accommodation Supervisor to keep employee housing and shared areas safe, clean, orderly, and respectful.
  • Carry out or supervise regular inspections of accommodation, dining areas, laundry areas, recreation spaces, and shared facilities.
  • Follow up urgent repair and maintenance needs with Engineering and report unresolved or repeated issues to the Security Manager.
  • Support checking of accommodation-related requests and purchases as assigned and ensure approved items are properly received and used.
  • Check waste management, recycling, safety signs, fire equipment, emergency access, and shared safety facilities in staff living areas.
  • Supervise safe and reliable long-tail boat ferry operations and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Support safe buggy operations, including driver standards, licensing, daily checks, and maintenance follow-up.
  • Confirm that boat and vehicle crew follow safety rules, are fit for duty, and handle passengers respectfully.
  • Help coordinate ferry and buggy schedules to meet operational needs while protecting employee safety and wellbeing.
  • Support the Security Manager in coordination with the Foundation, local authorities, and relevant marine partners on patrols and conservation activities.
  • Supervise security team participation in marine patrols and ensure respectful communication with local fishers and community members.
  • Monitor and report illegal fishing, , pollution, and other environmental or security risks within the Marine Protected Area.
  • Maintain marine patrol records and promptly escalate serious or repeated concerns to the Security Manager.
  • Help deliver regular refresher training on emergency response, fire safety, marine protection, guest and employee security, boat safety, buggy safety, and long-tail operations.
  • Support safety and security training during onboarding and help maintain monthly and annual training plans and records.
  • Train and coach in-house and outsourced security employees on relevant SOPs, workplace safety rules, patrol standards, reporting, and guest-area conduct.
  • Coach supervisors and security employees on respectful fact-finding, conflict de-escalation, confidentiality, and calm communication.
  • Be an approachable point of contact for employee concerns and make sure important matters are reported to the Security Manager and HR for proper follow-up.
  • Support disciplinary and workplace investigations by gathering facts, checking records, speaking with relevant persons, documenting findings, and keeping information confidential.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, wellbeing, accommodation, and safety activities together with HR and other departments.
  • Share regular observations with the Security Manager and HR on employee concerns, safety risks, repeated issues, and areas where training or clearer procedures are needed.
  • Maintain accurate logs of incidents, employee relations matters, follow-up actions, and assigned cases for review by the Security Manager.
  • Assist the Security Manager and HR Manager with investigations involving losses, claims, accidents, injuries, room inspections, employee clearance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Attend department, safety, operational, and management briefings when requested and follow up assigned action points.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Security Manager, Human Resources Manager, or General Manager.
  • Follow resort rules and lead by example through honesty, responsibility,fairness, and good judgement.
  • Create a supportive and respectful working environment and maintain strong grooming and uniform standards across the team.
  • Be open to feedback, willing to learn, and ready to coach, guide, and support employees.
  • Protect the confidentiality of guest, employee, security, investigation, and company information.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs for security checks, accommodation inspections, locker inspections, ferry and boat operations, marine patrols, training, incidents, investigations, and maintenance follow-up.
  • Submit clear daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Security Manager, including risks, unresolved concerns, incidents, and recommended follow-up actions.
  • Follow Cambodian law, maritime and boat safety requirements, resort policies, security SOPs, workplace safety rules, and applicable hospitality safety standards.
  • Maintain professional contact with local authorities, police, medical facilities, village representatives, and other relevant contacts when delegated by the Security Manager.
  • Build respectful working relationships withlocal government and community contacts in and around Koh Rong.
  • Represent the resort on safety, security, or community matters only when assigned or authorised.
  • Keep updated on resort operations and share relevant safety and security information with the Security team during briefings and handovers.
  • Coach, support, and develop Security team members, help maintain discipline and teamwork, and prepare team members for greater responsibility.
  • Maintain excellent personal grooming and hygiene and ensure required grooming and uniform standards are followed by the Security team and transport employees under the department.
