About Us

nourished by nature

Our female-founded private island is where lovers of soulful luxury reconnect with nature  and themselves.

Song Saa is an independent sanctuary combining world-class facilities with the heartfelt hospitality found in Cambodian homes.

Our guiding principle is care of self, the collective and the environment. We believe the wellbeing of our guests is inseparable from that of our neighbouring communities and Cambodia’s beautiful Koh Rong archipelago.

Whether receiving a Buddhist blessing in our jungle spa, meditating in the salt room or foraging for endemic plants, guests are invited to reconnect with the real spirit of Cambodia – and the wild that lies within us all.

Our origin story

Our tale begins in 2006 exploring remote islands off Cambodia’s coast, on an old fishing boat, sleeping beneath the stars. After stopping alongside a reef in rapid decline, its shores covered in rubbish — an extraordinary journey began.

Having fallen in love with Song Saa’s serenity, our founder Melita Koulmandas was determined to restore its coral-rich waters and virgin beaches.

Since then, we’ve collaborated with local communities on numerous projects including the founding of Cambodia’s first marine-protected area and the first waste management initiative in the Koh Rong archipelago.

The resort opened in 2013, not only to sustain the ongoing work of the Song Saa Foundation, but also to invite like-minded wanderers to become part of the island’s journey – as well as that of the wider Koh Rong ecosystem.

our location

A collection of largely uninhabited islands adrift in the Gulf of Thailand, the Koh Rong archipelago is the stuff from which tropical fantasies are weaved. Although it’s only 45-minutes from Song Saa Lounge by boat, it offers a lifestyle defined by the languid rhythms of salt and sun.

At its heart lies Song Saa – meaning ‘the sweethearts’ in Khmer – a pair of petite islets, Koh Ouen and Koh Bong, joined by a footbridge over water clear enough to spot turtles.

Guests are invited to immerse themselves in this extraordinary landscape through our leisure program, which has been thoughtfully curated alongside our resident marine biologists and conservationists.

Your stay

Handbuilt from reclaimed timber and framing extraordinary ocean vistas, our 24 villas are co-created with nature.

As well as a pool, each offers interiors lovingly designed by Melita to incorporate sustainable materials such as driftwood, naturally cooling thatch and upcycled oil drums.

It’s the level of conscious detail combined with our culture of care that makes our offering so unique.
