Solo trips for women are the fastest-growing trend in travel today. More women are choosing to travel alone, whether in relationships or not. In our experience, these journeys aren’t about escape but expansion.
Our founder Melita Koulmandas has been at the heart of Song Saa since its inception. She not only designed the interiors and architecture herself but remains deeply hands-on in the resort’s creative and spiritual direction.
This is a place created by a woman for women seeking space to breathe, reflect and come home to themselves. Because a solo trip for women isn’t just about where you go, it’s about how you feel when you get there.
Our snorkelling safari to Coral Reef Island, guided by a marine biologist from the Song Saa Foundation, is more than just an excursion. As you float above rare seahorses and blooming coral gardens, you’ll gain insight into the challenges faced by Cambodia’s delicate coral ecosystems, and how our on-site conservationists are working to protect them.
On land, you might choose to join the foundation’s team for a visit to Sala Song Saa, our climate classroom in Prek Svay village where we collaborate with local communities to cultivate environmental stewardship. These encounters offer opportunities for meaningful exchanges with local people, creating opportunities to reflect on your own role in creating a more conscious and compassionate world.
During private meditation sessions – held in your oceanfront villa or somewhere of your choice in our nature reserve – you’ll be guided into deep presence, cultivating self-knowledge through stillness.
For those drawn to creativity, our Khmer cooking class offers a different kind of expansion. Harvest ingredients from our organic garden, learn about the balance of Cambodian flavours and create something nourishing with your own hands. This is mindful solo travel at its most fulfilling: where every experience is a gentle invitation.
In a world that glorifies productivity, rest becomes a radical act. Many solo trips for women centre around a packed cultural itinerary but at Song Saa, Mother Nature becomes your guide.
In order to connect event deeper with our extraordinary ecosystem, we suggest you visit our Herbarium, where our resident botanist, Vichea Sok, is currently cataloguing all the flora and fauna of the Koh Rong Archipelago, an ambitious project that we hope will encourage government-led conservation in the region. So far his finds include Hetaeria oblongifolia, a species of orchid that grows on our wellbeing island, Koh Bong, and has never been recorded before.
Our Jungle-to-Jar workshops extend that relationship with the land. Create herbal teas, natural soaps, lip balms or essential oils using island-foraged ingredients and coconut oil pressed by hand on the neighbouring island of Koh Rong. More than just souvenirs, these are reminders of a more intentional way to live.
Evenings bring their own magic. Join a guided night foraging walk through the forest and discover nocturnal pollinators including bats, glowing fungi and the mystery of the island after dark. It’s here that eco-luxury travel becomes a felt connection between the natural world and your inner one.
In our version of women’s wellness travel in Cambodia, you’re invited to slow down, reconnect with nature’s rhythms and remember who you are when you’re most present.
At Song Saa, movement and stillness are held with equal reverence. Our wellbeing philosophy is informed by metta, the Buddhist principle of loving-kindness, and you’ll feel this woven through every experience at Saraan Sanctuaries by Song Saa, our wild wellbeing centre, which is scattered throughout the jungle and shoreline of our two private islands.
Daily yoga sessions invite guests of all ‘abilities’ to tend to body and breath. Whether you’re a long-time practitioner or stepping onto the mat for the first time, these gentle classes offer the chance to anchor yourself in the present moment. On Solo trips for women even the simplest rituals, like stretching with the sunrise, can become a powerful tool for finding balance.
Throughout the year, we also welcome visiting practitioners who share our values and enrich our wellness calendar with specialist expertise. From chakra yoga from the world-renowned Ananda in the Himalayas to laughter yoga with international facilitators like Steels Nair, these sessions reinforce Song Saa as a safe space for spiritual retreats for women.
For guests looking to cultivate physical strength alongside spiritual alignment, the Fitness Flow Journey offers a personalised and empowering retreat. This experience blends medical insight with holistic wellness, creating a bespoke protocol tailored to your unique physiology. Personal training in our jungle gym allows for form-focused workouts in an inspiring natural setting, while restorative treatments like the Bubble Vichy massage improve circulation and soothe tired muscles.
Some of the most memorable moments on solo trips for women are the ones shared with new connections. At Song Saa, we find ways to celebrate sustainability in everything from our interiors to our marine-positive menus but nowhere is our commitment to a fairer world more joyfully expressed than in our annual recycled fashion show.
Led by our food and beverage manager, Peov Mao, this spectacle is curated entirely by the Song Saa team. Designs are dreamed up months in advance with each participant using materials sourced from village clean-ups and beach collections. Judges have included some of Cambodia’s most exciting names in sustainable fashion, such as Romyda Keth and Eric Raisina. More than an event, this is a space where creativity becomes a form of climate action.
For solo travellers, it offers an opportunity to feel part of something both entertaining and meaningful. In the context of women’s wellness travel Cambodia, creative connection is a form of healing too. By cheering on local talent, you’re part of a key message: just like the perfect little black dress, sustainability never goes out of style.
As one of the few private island resorts in the world designed and led by women, we understand that solo trips for women are an act of self-trust. Whether you’re marking a new chapter, craving quiet or simply following your own rhythm, we hold the space with care.
From our women-led retreats and spiritual wellness journeys to thoughtful experiences like the Fitness Flow and Jungle-to-Jar workshops, everything we offer is designed to help you reconnect on your own terms.
